Group Fitness Class Descriptions
Classic. Muscular Strength and range of movement have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase strength and range of movement. Hand held weights, elastic tubing, and a exercise ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Circuit. Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand held weights, elastic tubing, and exercise ball is alternated with non-impact aerobics. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
Chair Yoga. Move and stretch your whole body through a series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. *you will not be required to go to the floor or take your shoes off for this class*
Muscles in Motion. Total body workout that will get your heart and muscles pumping. Varied workouts will combine cardio and strength training. End this class with floor work focusing on core strengthening exercises.
*Yoga Fit. This class blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. Try this class and find your inner athlete.
Basic Yoga. Fundamental postures are explained and demonstrated to build a strong foundation of basic yoga poses. This class is and invitation to stretch, relax and unwind.
*Yoga 2. Same as basic yoga but a little more intense and not for the beginner.
Yoga Flow. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced Yogi, flow through a series of postures and movements that focus on alignment, strength, balance and mindful stretching and relaxation.
Basic Pilates. Pilates improves your mental and physical well being. Increases flexibility and strengthens muscles through controlled movements done as mat exercise. Also, increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the bodies “core.” People who do Pilates feel they have better posture, are less prone to injury, and experience overall health.
Zumba. Zumba takes the “work” out of workout, through an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, and boosted energy.
Tai Chi. Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. Tai Chi is typified by its slow movements meant to stimulate the body’s energy flow. Tai Chi will help improve fitness, flexibility, balance, strength, circulation and stress management. Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for the health of the mind and body.
Barre. Contemporary barre class incorporates balance and resistance training, standing functional movement, Pilates, and ballet though no dance experience is required. It is a fun and refreshing addition to most fitness regimens.
