We are recommending the following general guidelines:

  • Tennis, racquetball and pickleball players should refrain from handshakes at the conclusions of matches; a light racquet tap is suggested instead.  Also, slapping hands between points can be replaced with verbal encouragement or bumping elbows.
  • Stay home when you feel sick (cough, running nose, fever).  HRC will not charge anyone for late cancellations due to illness in the months of March and April.  If you cannot find a sub for your tennis foursome, do not go ahead and play.  The rest of your foursome will understand and they would rather have you stay home then expose others to potential illness.
  • Please make sure tissues and empty drink bottles are disposed of in the trash receptacles.  Do not throw used tissues in the recycling for staff members to sort through.  Do not leave your used drink bottles for others to dispose of.
  • As with all respiratory illnesses, particularly during cold and flu season, you can take steps to reduce your risk of illness:
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
    • Supplement hand washing by regularly using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Especially on tennis changeovers.
    • Avoid close contact with people suffering from respiratory illness
    • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough and sneeze using a tissue or bent elbow.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Get vaccinated against seasonal influenza.

We will continue the monitor information given to us by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),  the U.S. Department of State, the North Carolina Governor’s Office, USTA and following the health precautions and recommendations issued by the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services (NCDHHS) for Covid-19 mitigation.  Next update will be by Monday, March 23rd.

March 12th Update

Dear Hendersonville Racquet Club Members and Guests:

To protect the health and safety of everyone at Hendersonville Racquet Club, we have adopted the following short term policies:

  • HRC Staff is diligently wiping down surfaces on a regular basis.  Signs are posted throughout the facility encouraging people to wash their hands.  Hand sanitizer is available throughout the facility at high traffic points.  Disinfectant spray and wipes are available in all common areas and customers are encouraged to make use.
    • Supplement hand washing by regularly using an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Especially on tennis changeovers.

    • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough and sneeze using a tissue or bent elbow.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Get vaccinated against seasonal influenza.
  • HRC will closely monitor County Health guidelines and CDC recommendations and amend these policies as necessity requires.

There have been discussions as to having fitness classes out on the indoor tennis courts for more spacing.  Unfortunately there are largely no courts available to make that a possibility until after April 4th.  We continue to evaluate the options and will communicate to everyone if there are changes.

Lastly, as you may have noticed, hand sanitizer cannot be found in stores at this time in Hendersonville.  For your benefit, here is a recipe from Briana on how to make your own hand sanitizer:
